A 36 or 48 month taşıt kredisi has to sit next to rent, any existing ihtiyaç kredisi, and the service costs of that specific car. If the plan only works on overtime you do not have yet, it is not a plan. It is a hope with a pledge attached.
This is general information. Valrun is not a lender. This is not financial, legal, or tax advice. Households differ. Banks can refuse.
Planning is a calendar, not a mood
Long-term here means the actual term on the contract plus a year after, because cars keep costing money when the loan ends. Fuel, tyres, inspection, insurance renewals, and a repair that is not “fair” do not wait for your last installment.
Write a monthly picture that already includes:
- Rent or dues
- Food and commuting you cannot drop
- Existing credit-card minimums and other loan installments
- The proposed taşıt installment
- Insurance (traffic plus casco if the bank requires it)
- A dull maintenance line, not zero
If the leftover is thinner than one missed-paycheque, you do not have a 48-month product. You have a 48-month stress test. Banks look at income ratios. You should look at the month where the washing machine also dies.
Term length is a household decision
A longer term lowers the debit and raises total interest. It also keeps you pledged longer, which complicates a sale. A shorter term is cheaper in total only if you actually pay it. Defaulting on a “cheap total” loan is not a win.
Pick the term by a bad month, not a bonus month. Then look at total repayable. If both views are ugly, the car is too expensive, not the calculator.
Do not stretch to 48 months to “afford” a newer model you will not keep 48 months. Depreciation and remaining principal will meet you at the sale. That is a different article. The planning point is simple: term should match how long you can stand both the payment and the car.
Other debts are not background noise
Ihtiyaç kredisi already on the file is not separate from taşıt kredisi. It is the same income. So is a card that you revolve. A bank may still approve. Approval is not the same as room.
If you planned to “clean the card with a personal loan, then take the car loan,” count the months. Sequencing two applications can mean two KKB inquiries and a period where both products exist. Sometimes people close nothing and add both. Write the stacked installments before you enjoy the approval SMS.
Early repayment of the auto loan later is a possible tool, not a plan. Plans that require a future raise, a future inheritance, or a future rate cut are fiction. If those arrive, you can pay down. Until they arrive, the schedule you sign is the schedule.
Job and income shape
Taşıt kredisi underwriting likes documented, repeating income. Long-term planning should be harsher than underwriting. Contract work that renews, a business with seasonal invoices, or a foreign employer who might relocate you are not moral problems. They are calendar risks.
Ask what happens if you change jobs in month 18. The loan does not reset. Some employers will not wait while you sort a pledged car across cities. If your work is mobile, a long pledge on a depreciating asset is a logistics problem as much as a money problem.
If you are not a Turkish citizen, add permit timing to the calendar. A car loan does not extend a residence right. Confirm the branch can board your ID and income type before you pay a dealer deposit you cannot unwind.
The car has a plan too
Long-term auto-loan planning fails when the vehicle is treated as a finished purchase. Choose something you can service where you live. Rare parts, a forgotten importer, or a model that only one workshop likes will show up as cash shocks inside the term.
New cars shift cost into depreciation and invoice size. Used cars shift cost into repairs and stricter credit rules. Neither path is “the long-term one.” The long-term one is the car whose total (installment + insurance + likely repairs) you can name.
Manufacturer campaigns that look like cheap credit can move money into the sticker. For planning, always split cash price and financed total. If you cannot get both numbers, you cannot plan. You can only hope the dealer is kind. Dealers are not a planning input.
A written offer is the only 36-month object
Verbal rates do not belong in a household spreadsheet. Get a repayment plan: dates, installment, total, fees. Put the first due date on a calendar with rent. People miss the overlap: delivery this month, first debit next month, insurance due the same week.
Build a small reserve before delivery if you can, not after. After delivery, the car starts eating the reserve. If you cannot fund both a reserve and a down payment, the down payment is competing with survival cash. That competition is the real long-term question.
Valrun is not a lender and will not set a “safe” percent of income. Rules of thumb from other countries do not map cleanly onto Turkish rent, inflation, and product sheets that reprint in 2026. Your notebook is more accurate than a slogan.
Before you apply
Confirm the term you can service in a weak month, the insurance the pledge requires, and early-repayment rules in writing. If you are not a Turkish citizen, confirm the branch can board your ID and income type before you pay a large deposit.
